NSIMBI Community Household
Income Empowerment Initiative (NCHIEI)
Building Economically Stronger Household Incomes, One Household at a Time
The NSIMBI Community Household Income Empowerment Initiative (NCHIEI) is a flagship program under NSIMBI Savings and Credit Cooperative Society Ltd, designed to uplift low-income households through community-based savings, lending, and financial empowerment.
NCHIEI brings together families, women, and youth to build financial confidence, grow income, and transition from informal financial practices into structured, sustainable financial systems.
NCHIEI exists to:
- Strengthen household incomes through micro-saving and micro-lending.
- Provide access to affordable credit for income-generating activities.
- Empower communities through financial literacy, business mentorship, and entrepreneurship training.
- Create strong support systems through group accountability and community-driven leadership.
- Equip households with the tools needed to move from financial vulnerability to stability.
The program follows a structured, community-friendly model that ensures sustainability, accountability and growth:
1. Community Group Formation
Households and individuals form Village Loan Circles (VLCs) of 6 –18 members. These circles act as support systems and guarantee groups that enable fair access to credit.
2. Weekly Savings Culture
Members commit to saving a fixed amount weekly.
This builds financial discipline, creates an emergency buffer, and forms collateral for future loans.
3. Business & Financial Training
Members undergo high-impact training on:
- Budgeting and saving
- Basic bookkeeping
- Marketing and business operations
- Digital money management
- Record-keeping and pricing
Training includes group activities where members practice real business growth techniques.
4. Access to Micro-Loans
Members access loans in structured cycles based on their savings discipline and business performance:
- Loan Cycle 1: UGX 250,000 – 350,000
- Loan Cycle 2: UGX 400,000 – 1,500,000
- Loan Cycle 3: UGX 1,000,000 – 2,500,000
- Graduation to individual loans: UGX 2,000,000 – 5,000,000
Loans are guaranteed jointly by the group and are repaid weekly or bi-weekly.
5. Business Growth & Mentorship
Members receive continuous coaching and mentorship from field officers and local entrepreneurs to help them grow their microenterprises.
6. Formal Banking Transition
Successful members “graduate” into individual lending and receive further support to:
